SIDEWINDER LACROSSE PROGRAMS

Junior Sidewinder Teams curriculum is heavily focused on core foundational skills development. The evolution of club lacrosse at the youth levels, and for many programs a concerted focus on only playing games, has lead to developmental gaps with many young players. In many circumstances these gaps become massive hurdles that are difficult to overcome as players matriculate into high school.

The structure and curriculum embedded in Junior Sidewinder program is centered on providing each of our participants an experience and platform by which they learn very important core foundational lacrosse skills that are essential for their continued development at the right pace as they grow as advanced lacrosse athletes.

Lacrosse is a technical skills driven game. If young players don't learn the right skills at the youth level, they will struggle to evolve as top tier players as they matriculate into high school.

From 4th thru 6th grade our emphasis is heavily weighted in skills development. Our players spend 65% of the time in small group settings, competitively staged - learning important lacrosse skills. The balance of their time is spent in game and tournament settings.

As players enter 7th grade we begin to move them into a more highly competitive setting which includes upper tier middle school lacrosse tournament events. 7th grade year ultimately becomes a transitional year as teams enter their 8th grade seasons they remain engaged with the Sidewinder Middle School Program in fall and summer seasons although, as they enter 8th grade summer the teams move into our high school program.

Sidewinder Lacrosse is fully aware that many young players prefer to remain engaged with local recreational or township programs. Sidewinder Lacrosse has programs structured to allow players to do both.
